For the past decade, Rick Hasse has published Rink Rats, a blog where he offers his own unique takes on everything from higher education to the economy, politics, and professional sports. Why did he start doing this? Why does he continue? (Hint: it’s not about the money.) 

Speaker Information

Speaker:   Professor Rick Hasse, MBA ’08 

Speaker Bio: Professor Rick Hasse has been working for over thirty-five years in the accounting and finance field. His career has included management in both for and not-for-profit companies. He has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in Finance, Accounting, and Statistics at the Community College and Collegiate level and has been an Adjunct Professor in the College of Business at the University of La Verne since 1990.

Rick is currently writing a twice-monthly blog entitled “Rink Rats”. Financial management experience includes mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, and financing transactions in industries including not-for-profit colleges, medical supplies, real estate development, and transportation services.

Rick has an M.B.A. in finance and accounting from the University of La Verne and a B.A. in Economics and Government from St. Lawrence University.  Rick lives in Claremont, CA (just down the road from La Verne) and enjoys golf, hockey, and investing in his free time.

Series Information

Join us for our new series of virtual lunch-and-learn events, offered in partnership with our Career Support teams. With an overall theme of career development and planning for an uncertain future, each session will feature an accomplished University of La Verne alum with a particular area of expertise. After a brief presentation, you will be able to ask the speaker anything you please. It’s a great and convenient way to expand your knowledge as well as your alumni network!
