Frequently Asked Questions
- Question Why are you texting me? I already receive emails, letters, etc. from the university.
- Answer
We are texting as a way to keep in touch with an increasingly busy population that prefers the immediacy of texting over long form messaging. We realize that many alumni will still prefer email, phone, and mail communications, and you can opt out of texting at any time.
- Question I haven’t been receiving texts but I would like to get event invites and other communications via text. How can I get added to the list?
- Answer
The best way to get added to the text list is by ensuring sure we have your correct cell phone number on file. You may update your contact information. *By providing your phone number, you agree to receive text messages from the University of La Verne. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies.*
- Question I've been getting a lot of spam lately. How do I know the text is really from you?
- Answer
If you’re ever curious about a text, feel free to give us a call at (909) 448-4665 to confirm it’s us. Our texts will always come from a 909 area code and we will never ask for any form of payment over text. If you do receive such a message, it is NOT from the University of La Verne.
- Question Are these texts automated, or am I speaking to a real person?
- Answer
Yes, you are speaking to a real person! The platform that we use, ThruText, allows us to send out messages very quickly to people while responding to them in real time.
- Question Can I opt out?
- Answer
Yes, you can opt out of receiving texts at any time by emailing us or by responding to the text message that you receive and asking to be opted out.
